review 1: David Klein is also co-author of Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar, and Aristotle and an Aardvark Go to Washington. He has a way of bringing philosophy down to earth for the rest of us non-philosophers. Here he examines how to deal with advanced age in a philosophical manner. I must admit, he gave me a new appreciation for the philosopher Epicurus, who would probably be disappointed about the word 'epicurean' which is his namesake. I really enjoyed this book ask Klein examined most of the aspects of old age (good and bad) with a frank, authentic look. He gives us the view on age held by many philosophers. All this is provided against a backdrop of everyday Greece in this new millennium, with some colorful local characters. I really enjoyed the ... morebook.
review 2: This is an interesting, if short, tramp through philosophy & growing older. The text is clear and well written, and harks back to the time when philosophy was meant to help live a good life. If it has one fault it is the fact it is brief and pecks at the ideas it brings up, rather than going into depth. However further reading is clearly signposted in the text, albeit with some witty barbs as to whether the thought is just 'twaddle' (Heidegger). It encouraged the reading of his other works less
