review 1: I read this book for my August BookGuru review on the WhereIsMyGuru.com radio show (you can listen to the segment in the show's online archives). What I appreciated about Bruno was his willingness to think deeply about why he collected certain items (woodworking tools, model trains) to figure out the emotional undercurrents of his consumption. His approach was also limited to his stuff, not his shared goods with his wife & daughters, making the project more realistic and less gimmicky. That distinguishes this book from the more radical minimalist books out there.
review 2: I wanted to like this book, really I did. I loved the principle behind it. I loved the fact that he involved his faith and talked about all of the things in his life taking away from God. The
... morere were some good parts to this book. But overall this book rambles on and on about everything he gets rid of, where he got it, how long he's had it, how he felt about getting rid of it, what the weather was like the day he sold it, who he sold it to ect. It was just too much. And the other thing that bothered me is that his 100 things did not include any furniture because it was all family shared. What about shampoo , soap, shaving cream?? I loved the idea behind this book and I think it was written with good intentions but after about chapter 3 you just wish it was over. less

Provocative subject, not going to quibble about the details of his choices.
