review 1: Dave Hill and I go way back. Since he's from Cleveland, I went to see one of his bands in concert. After the gig I went up to Dave, shook his hand, and told him, "Great show." And I didn't say it because Dave is a Clevelander like me. I said it because he just rocked the house and was covered and sweat and planned on being my friend for a long, long time.More than a decade later, Dave's written a book. Since he's from Cleveland, I read the book, and I now tell Dave, "Great book." Dave's book chronicles his rocking life both in Cleveland and in his new digs of New York City, where he has an awesome-cool studio apartment, a kick-ass comedy show, and lots and lots of famous friends. His book makes me want to do all the same things he does, like go on a naked cruise (preferabl... morey with much hotter people), melt the faces off Japanese schoolgirls on a rock and roll tour, ride around in a pedicab, and fly back and forth from New York to Cleveland all the time in pure rock and roll style. (I don't need to live in a place where I can pee in the sink whenever I like because I have already done that. Pinky-shake, Dave Hill!)I don't know if you can be as cool as Dave Hill, or even me, but you can try. Well, at least you can try to be as cool as me by reading this book. That's a good first step, and might suffice, but I'm not saying you should immediately put it on your resume. It's just an attempt. Maybe one day you'll be able to shake Dave Hill's hand after a rock and roll show, and even tell him, "Great show!" That will get you pretty close to being as cool as me. I might even accept it. Don't know about Dave Hill, though. Do all of this then check back in a decade when you and Dave Hill go way back. Then maybe you'll have climbed to the top of the cool ladder. But start with this book.
review 2: Can't wait to read this. Just check out the amazing blurbs he got, such as: “I run into Dave Hill all the time at the coffee shop in our neighborhood. He's always unshaven and badly hungover, with some 16-year-old groupie from Cleveland in tow—and he's just as funny then as he is in Tasteful Nudes. He is my idol.” —Malcolm Gladwell"This book, in addition to being a hilariously fun read, is exactly the kind of book that will get Dave Hill totally laid." —Andy RichterAfter hearing Dave on This American Life this week, I believe it's all true. less

Loved all of the Cleveland references and pretty much everything about Dave Hill.

Fuck you James Frey, this is what a real tale of hope looks like.

I found it boring and repetitive.
