review 1: Given the actual tone of the graphic novel, the witty title is misleading. The "story" is introspective, but primarily self-involved. (There is no character development of the other people involved.) It is a "how did I get here" tale that, though the setting changes, only features internal action. It isn't informative. It isn't an apology, nor an effective story of growth. And the intended takeaway is unconvincing. I'm not really sure what it is other than vaguely depressing.
review 2: I chose this because of the author’s name, and the name of the book. Axe is a war correspondent who teamed up with a cartoonist to cover his time in East Timor and Somalia, among other infamous locations. This book has a loose plot about Axe’s discovery and coming to terms wi
... moreth his need for adrenaline, which leads him to take increasingly dangerous assignments, and which ultimately results in him travelling freelance with his girlfriend to Somalia, back when the African Union and Transitional Government only controlled a few blocks in Mogadishu. less

Depressing, but occasionally poignant...well paced for the content included

i can't hate these self-aggrandizing, fatalist missives enough.

Interesting, but I doubt it'll stick with me.

Dark, penetrating, and too short.
