review 1: I enjoyed David Lebovitz's anecdotes about his life in Paris. As an devout Francophile, I find myself drawn to the minutiae of life in a French city. The recipes were a trove of decadent food porn and I would recommend to all that this be a book you own, not borrow from a library, as I did, because you will want to take the time to source the ingredients and make some of the many deliciously-sounding recipes included in this book.
review 2: What a fun pleasurable book, if you like the French and have been exposed to them, either in the United States or in France or of have had the pleasure of spending any time in Paris and knowing the ever elusive and interesting "Parisians", then this is a must read!Since my kids go to a French school and I rub elbows with... more the French all the time, I found this book of a lot of interest, though the French who I interact with daily, have been living in the U.S for a while and have definitely warmed up to the American ways.The author has a great sense of humor and and as a foodie, I loved that so much of his love affair with Paris is about the food. He mentions many Cafés, restaurants and boulangeries that are a must go to and Mr. Leibovitz has a lot of credibility since he is a very well-known pastry chef in his own right with several published popular cookbooks. A very humorous, light read of an American ex pats view living 6+ years in Paris. Every chapter ends with one or two mouthwatering dessert recipes all with very instructive and humorous directions! less
