review 1: If you are pretty much into US politics and what happened in the last 4 decades, then definitely this book is not what you are targeting. Full of self defensive position, criticizing others starting from his mate in the white house till Obama .. Enough to say that this guy was the secretary of defense during first gulf war and vice president and main initiator and motivator for this war in 2003 and at the same time, the CEO of Halliburton in the period between his service to G. H. Bush and George W. Bush (Coincidence, huh?) .. I would say that George W. Bush & Bill Clinton are more truthful and trustworthy book than Mr. Cheney's.So Disappointed and way below my expectation for someone who served in the office for more than 20 years. My next stop will be his friend Donald R... moreumsfeld and let's see.
review 2: It's interesting to see history, such as 9/11 through various eyes; each one gives a more revealing vision of the reality. This book starts with Dick Cheney's view of his important decisions and role in the response to that tragic event.Dick Cheney has a high opinion of himself - maybe justified. He was fortunate that President Bush gave him so much responsibility and let him have so much input and power. Most vice presidents don't have that. During his time in office he tried to downplay his role, leading to speculations about how much power he really did have.I have to say that I respect the man after reading this, even if I don't agree with his position on many issues. I would recommend the book to people interested in history and politics. less
