review 1: It's nice to remember the great Celtics/Lakers basketball rivalry of the 80s with Larry and Magic! They really did bring the game back! The book gives some nice insights into both Larry and Magic's characters -- the desire and hard work it took to get them to the pinnacle of their games. Even though both men have completely different styles it was interesting to learn how they came to be friends. The book takes you all the way from their original rivalry at Indiana State and Michigan State to the Celts/Lakers years all the way up until both of their retirements from the NBA. A fun read!

I grew up watching Bird & Magic play in the NBA and this book brought back all the m... moreemories of the terrific NBA Finals during those years, even if it wasn't always Celtics vs. Lakers. Anyone who loved watching those two guys and their teams compete back in the day should read this book. One of the best non-fiction books I have read in a long, long time. less
