review 1: i connected to emily in that love seems to bring as much pain into my life as it does pleasure. i also live in brooklyn and have very little money, so a few parts hit very close to home. a lot of the pieces also seemed to exude self-awareness or vanity, which is something other readers seem to dislike. what did you expect? it's a collection of autobiographical essays written by a young, good-looking writer who lives in brooklyn. get over it.
review 2: I wanted to like this book more than I did. As a child of the overly familiar, confessional-style blog world, and a reader of Gawker, NYMag and everything else that mentioned Gould in the last howevermany years, this should have been just the book for me. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed the insight into the burgeon
... moreing world of Gawker, I never connected with insight of being a twenty something in this decade. The collection of essays is a good format for what she is trying to do, but nothing struck a particular chord for me. less

Really enjoyed this book. Light read, that was similar to watching an episode of Girls.
