review 1: The Way I Am is thr most interesting and fascinating autobiography I've ever read. I was instantly captivated by the dedication and story of Proof. Eminem has alwas been a very private person. The only way people knew about his story was through his music. This book gives you a look inside his very personal, private life. You really get a better understanding of everything he wemt through to get whrre he is today. His personality, humor, passion for rap, and love for his daughters really shines through in his writing When you see thepictures of his lyric sheets, you really get an insight to the method to the madness. I would recommend this book to anybody. If you love Eminem, youll really feel lik you get to know him better. If you hate Eminem, it may give you a differ... moreent view of him.
review 2: Firstly, this book is aesthetically beautiful. It's really an arty 'coffee table' book with big, colourful photos and different fonts and text layouts, and it smells 'inky' due to the quality of the printing on the thick pages. The text mainly covers Eminem's career from its beginnings to about 2008 (when the book was written), and it doesn't go into any of his childhood, gossip or scandals. It's definitely a book for his fans, or fans of rap/hip-hop as I think others would get bored of the details. This wasn't a problem for me as I am a fan of his work and don't much care about his private life. I was interested in how he developed his genius rhyming ability and how he plays with words. The stuff about his film Eight Mile was interesting too. The pictures were awesome. There are a lot of photos of scribbled lyrics towards the back which were interesting, but there were perhaps too many of them.Favourite quote: "I wouldn't fuck with a horse. If a horse dissed me, I wouldn't say anything back."The book comes with a DVD of a short "documentary" which I thought was a bit redundant unless you're a hardcore fan wanting to see behind the scenes at a gig. The book also comes in a plastic sleeve which makes it almost impossible to hold the book without it falling to the floor! less

Personally, I loved this book. It was fun and super easy to read because there were many different pictures and different fonts. I am a big fan of Eminem, so it was really interesting to me to read about his life and all of his accomplishments. The book was written by Eminem himself, so everything in it was true and I could learn from his perspective of things that happened in his life. I think this book would appeal most to people who are fans of him or who are into rap music. Most of his fans are teenagers or in their early 20s.

I was a fan of Eminem's early work (1995-2001) right around when I graduated high school and began university. I found his bio to be a suprising juxtaposition of his public persona and it was interesting to see where he came from. He leaves out A LOT in this book, but you get the essence of what made him who he is today. You're not going to get a detailed account of his life, but it is a short book and is fun to read.
