review 1: I was looking for a fun read and I picked this. It was fun but at the same time a bit on my nerves. I cannot believe such a mother exists. I cannot help thinking maybe Ernest Van Der Kwast has exaggerated about his mother. And if she is really like this isn't it a bit inconsiderate and unkind to use one' mother's character to write a bestseller?Anyway it reminded me of "Funny in Farsi" which I liked better than this book. But I have decided to give Mama Tandoori three stars. The whole image of their family life represented in the novel worth three stars.
