The Life and Times of a Hawaiian Tiki Bar
review 1: I loved the thought of living in a tropical tree house, working in a tiki bar, and having a private beach for swimming and surfing. The perfect life! I enjoyed the tales about the different patrons of the tiki bar, and especially their interactions with Tiwaka, the talking parrot. As the bartender said, he never thought of Tiwaka as a pet. He thought of him as a co-worker. That parrot was just amazing, and would have been a lot of fun to observe.
review 2: A reasonably fun, light read. It's a series of short stories about a man who operates a tiki bar in Hawaii, and his parrot. The parrot plays a substantial role in the book. Going into detail would spoil it. I liked the book more at the beginning than when I got closer to the end. Parts of it were kind of
... morepredictable, and a couple of the stories included descriptions of surfing that dragged on a bit too long, in my opinion. Also, there were far too many typos. This book needed some editing. But it's a quick read, and not bad if you're in the mood for something fluffy. less
