review 1: Imran Ahmad recounts his life growing up in Britain after his family moves there from Pakistan to escape the troubles. Ahmad is self-deprecating in his humour and endlessly naive, especially when it comes to women. He struggles with religion (who God is, and what's the difference between Islam and Christianity), with Western hero worship (he'd love to be James Bond) and all the trappings of the West (booze, bullying, and non-arranged marriages).
