review 1: I am a loyal viewer of the Incredible Dr. Pol show on Nat Wild Geo TV and would marry his son, Charles in an instant if we were the same age :) My favorite chapters of the book was when he wrote about his life growing up in the Netherlands, how and why he became a vet, when he met his wife Diane, how they began their own vet practice how they started the TV show and of course his children (although I really wanted to learn more about his daughters). Those chapters were too short. Most of the book was spent on reliving his memories of vet calls, which were interesting but not exactly all I wanted to read.
review 2: Well written, if a little graphic memoir of a vet. Jan Pol is extremely pragmatic in his descriptions of his veterinary practice. He understan
... moreds the difference between work and pet animals, and is very clear on the different ways that a vet has to deal with them. Hard as it was for me to read some of Pol's very detailed descriptions of the procedures and treatments, I still appreciated his honesty, and the dignity with which he handled the animals in his care. less

Entertaining, but covers much of what has been included in the tv show.

I liked the nice, simple, stories. I'm curious about the show.
