review 1: This book was surprisingly wonderful and delicious. I picked this book off the shelf at the bookstore without having heard anything about it. I had no expectations for it and half expected to give up after a few pages. However, MacLeod surprised me. She writes the story in such a way where you can really feel the love between her and the butcher. Her wonderful prose also allows the reader to sink into her words and feel like you are wandering around Paris inside her mind. Fantastic.
review 2: Honestly found this pretty boring. I found the other books about Paris a lot more enjoyable. If I were reading this I would have given up, but I was listening to this on audiobook and the narrator does pretty good impressions and it was easy to listen to while I was cleani

The cool part: unlike the other books like this she's not an American girl moving to France, she's Canadian from Ontario, and although she does technically move from America (LA), it's enough of a difference... There are some cool references for fellow Canadians. less
