review 1: 3.5 starsJann Arden is a Canadian singer/songwriter. This is her autobiography, from her childhood up to when she got her first record deal just before she turned 30. I really enjoyed this. Jann had a fairly normal family and childhood, but it was still interesting to read about her growing up. I live in the city she grew up in (and still lives in), so I recognize many of the places. That's always fun. I was a little surprised that it wasn't funnier than it was, though. To hear her talk, she is absolutely hilarious! There were funny parts in the book, but I had expected more humour than there was. That being said, I still really enjoyed it.
review 2: This book had a pretty slow start - the first half of the memoir only gets up you to about age 5 for goodness sa
... morekes. But I'm glad I stuck with it. I would have liked more - I read it on my kindle and kept thinking there must be some mistake - it's just getting interesting - how can there be only 20 pages left! She has a wonderful literary voice - so honest, simple, and humorous. It wasn't as poetic or literary as you would expect from a songwriter, but direct and leaves you feeling you know her. My favourite line: "My memories are strings of lights wrapped around everyone I have ever known and loved." less

An OK read. I was interested in her life and wanted to know more about her.

I take it in small doses as there is way too much detail.
