review 1: At the beginning of the book, I like the suspense build-up of what is happening next in the adventure across the whole country. Unfortunately, I got frustrated and never got hooked on the book because the story was monotonous (with the exception by the end of the book) and lacks the surprise factor. I like the fact that images from the road trip and some links were included that helped to feel the road trip like being there.
review 2: At first I wasn't too sure about this one - initially it seemed like the book might just be an exercise in saying "Hey, Mom! Look how big my vocabulary is!", but ultimately the authors sucked me in. It's a fun read, but what really caught my interest was the way the road trip evolved into a different kind of journey entirely. I fo... moreund myself asking a lot of the same questions and pausing to think more carefully about how I approach language and communication; not just in my job as an editor, but also in my day-to-day interactions with other people. At the end of the day, it was enjoyable and thoughtfully written. less
