review 1: Jenni Schaefer's books are really helpful. They're not so useful to me during times of crisis, but when I'm wavering on the edge and looking for reasons to keep going, her anecdotes and advice can help push me over the edge back into a recovery mindset. This book is more about the later stages of recovery: trying to find your way through life now that the eating disorder no longer IS your life. I like this book a lot, but you definitely have to be in the right mindset for it to be helpful/in order to enjoy it.
review 2: I learned what life after ED looks like. This is a good book for me. It is a compilation of the author's experiences, suggestions, descriptions, comparisons of life with and without ED, exercises for people like her or people not like her but
... moreinterested, like me. This is not a scientific (i.e., bird's eye view) study of ED but a valuable in the trenches explication. Jenni as an author writes clearly and with candor. Maybe her book deserves 4 or 5 stars, really, since it was monumental for her, I expect, to write this. I could not write it but I found myself easily understanding her descriptions. less
