review 1: I would have enjoyed this book more if I were in my 20's or early-mid 30's. However, the story and the writing are fairly entertaining. This is a memoir about the author's having gone off the rails for several years, pursuing sex, drugs & rock & roll, while still living with her super-nice, steady, if somewhat staid, husband. It frequently veers toward self-absorption, but the author has just enough perspective and self-awareness to not make you completely sick of her.

It was interesting to see her point of view, and she was able to see how horrible she was in her review mirror, but her lack of communication with her husband during her marriage and lack of regret at the mistakes she made don't really make her a sympathetic character. less
