review 1: Although I feel awful for what the author and her family have gone through with the death of her sister, I have to admit this is one of very few books I could not get through. Once I start a book I feel the need to see it through to end.....I hate to say it but I abandoned this book midway through. Too much time spent on poetry and associations with Shakespeare and Sylvia Plath for me. I would've preferred to read more of Kim's life and history. I also felt the book had no logical flow to it (at least up to where I gave up). I am hoping, though, that this book helped give some peace to the author and her family.

... moretion and I was fascinated by the suicide research going on. It's tricky to write a book that seeks to answer both a specific and a universal question -- why would she/anybody do that? So I'm not surprised she had no final answer, but I think the search was worthwhile both for her and others who struggle to answer the question. less
