review 1: I liked her other books better, for some reason I cannot pinpoint. As I age, I can laugh with JCB and occasionally say "that's right" or "mmmm hmmm". Aging is funny and horrifying at the same time. No one wants to age but it is best to accept the obvious and make the best with what you have. JCB reminds us that good friends and gallows humor can get you through the rough parts of past-40. My thighs have never been great and no song has ever paid homage to them, but I appreciated the reminder that everyone has something worth preserving.
review 2: I have several complaints about this book. 1.) The Southern "voice" is so over-the-top that it's hard to understand. I'm sure this lady is funny in person, but on paper it just looks like a bunch of ridiculous metaphor
... mores. 2.) I like a good rant as much as the next person, but a book chock full of them? Not so much. Come on, you've gotta have a point in there somewhere! 3.) Ease up on the CAPS LOCK for pete's sake! The pages look like the ravings of a 13-year-old girl, not a grown-ass woman! less
