review 1: An inspiring and exciting story of tragedy and survival. Also, an interesting and candid description of the sorrow and confusion that can come along with survivor's guilt. Overall, a great read, suggested for any fan of outdoors books or survival narratives. However, I feel that to fully understand this book, a reader will need to be fairly well versed in climbing terminology and know the names of a lot of different pieces of climbing gear.
review 2: Although the author's story of survival is absolutely amazing, this book is just too long. It seems that people are afraid to write a 100 page book. Perhaps they are paid by the page? This would have been perfect if it had been half as long and simply talked about their time on the mountain. It seemed that the
... moreauthor couldn't decide if he wanted to write an adventure book, a full autobiography, or a book about healing. Perhaps I just shouldn't have assumed that this would be an adventure book. less
