review 1: Fallon is an incredible talk show host. I absolutely CANNOT wait until he takes over the Tonight Show in February 2014. His writers are also incredibly talented. The monologues, the skits, they are all extremely well done. The best segment has to be the Thank You notes. To most people they are a notorious thing that must be done after every big celebration in which you recieve gifts, but Fallon takes a new spin on them with Thank you notes to ordinary objects or occurences, pointing out things about them that get viewers cracking up. This book exactly reflects the humor that is created on the show. Although they must be read with the traditional thank you writing note music in the background, they cause many laughs and will brighten up your day. You might have to pause the... more music a few times so you can collect yourself, but I cannot explain how much I enjoy these notes. I loved them all, but my favorite had to be this one:Thank you... women who walk around with yoga mats in slings, for either looking like an unemployed archer or a bazooka smuggler.
review 2: Written by Jimmy Fallon with the writers of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, you do not expect anything less than a few laughs out loud. And that is exactly what happened during my 30 minute lunch break. This is a very short read that I would recommend browsing through during a bathroom/lunch break, or basically anytime you have a few spare minutes.Each page contains a relevant photograph to a "thank you..." note on an appreciated, unappreciated, or clearly ridiculous everyday observation, opinion or thought. If you enjoyed The Book of Awesome, or any variations of that book, you'll probably get a kick out of this more cynical but true version. Not all of the notes made me laugh hysterically, but there were definitely some good chuckles every few pages!I have not read the first book of Thank You Notes, so I cannot make a comparison as to which I found funnier, but just so you have an idea of what you're in for, here are two of my favorites quoted directly from the book:"Thank you... frozen burrito in the bottom of my freezer, for being the food equivalent of a booty call. I'm drunk and we're totally gonna hook up tonight, but I have a feeling I'll regret it in the morning.""Thank you... people whose Facebook profile picture is them as a baby, for basically saying, "Here's the last time I wasn't ugly." less
