review 1: This was a funny murder mystery book but I felt that it was lacking somewhere. The characters were not as developed as I would have liked and it was short yet too long. I say short because there could have been so much more woven into this book/storyline but it was filled with a lot of nonsense stuff that I skimmed over (such as the old girlfriend story). Overall I found it to be amusing and a quick read.
review 2: Don't let the unattractive cover fool you--there really is a great book within. Filtered through the jaundiced mind of the low-life protagonist, this is some of the funniest narrative and dialogue I've read in years. The humor flows naturally and never comes off as phony or forced, being totally consistent with how Moran looks at life and other
... morepeople from his uniquely egocentric point of view. And the mystery is well-developed, too, with a most intriguing troop of secondary characters. I think the only person who might not like this book is my poor sleepy cat who kept getting jiggled off my lap as I giggled my way through this laugh-out-loud story. Mr. Travis's debut novel is a masterpiece--can't wait to see if he can top himself in the next installment--surely this cannot be the last we hear of Brit Moran. less

It was okay. Kind of funny at times. Lot of characters - a little hard to keep straight.

Funny, but not as funny as the reviews that had people laughing out loud. Dry wit.

Loved it and didn't want to stop reading. Wonderful balance of humor and mystery.

The dry wit of the main character was a nice bonus in this Kindle freebie.
