review 1: So disappointed. I love Judi Dench and wanted insight into her beautiful mind, but this book was just list after list of what play she was in and who directed it and who she acted with. There was no emotion or depth in it. Even the "chapter" dedicated to the death of her husband was only a mere 4 pages in length and she truly only mentioned his passing and the effect it had on her in 4 brief paragraphs. Perhaps she is just a private person and I respect that, but then why bother writing an autobiography at all?
review 2: Another lively theatre and film memoir told with a wonderfully self-deprecating humour, "and furthermore" covers all the stories about her relationships with other actors and directors not detailed in John Miller's biography of Dame Judi Dench.... more Extremely entertaining. It was so addictive I breezed through it in three days and wish I had another three days worth to savour. A delight from beginning to end. - BH. less
