review 1: While I did not LOVE this book, I liked it and found it incredibly interesting to read. I learned about the process and hard work it takes to go from an initial version of a play to a successful play. I also loved the relationships Wendy fostered with so many people - both famous and not-so-famous - and the people she worked with early on their careers (like Meryl Streep and Swoosie Kurtz). If you are an enjoyer of Broadway plays, you will find this an interesting read.
review 2: I have seen and enjoyed four of Wendy Wasserstein’s plays. As a devoted WW fan I was eager to read "Wendy and the Lost Boys." I‘m sorry to say that I was disappointed. Although I found much of it informative and interesting, I felt that the book needed editing. There was a grea
... moret deal of repetition and extraneous material. In keeping with the “Playbill” cover, Ms. Salamon might have avoided one problem by providing a “cast in order of appearance” section, rather than repeating information almost every time a person's name is mentioned. I gave the book three stars (rather than two) because, in spite of the problems, I was able to glean a picture of Wendy, her relationships and her work. But the same could have been accomplished with fewer words. less

This was Just Bad (very disappointing considering this is the author of Devil's Candy).

Devastating and brilliant. One of the best literary biographies I've ever read.
