review 1: i didn't like calvin from page one and never really grew to like him. so when tragedy struck, my heart never went out to him. i was hoping at some point he would quit referring to his students as retards but no dice. plus i found his ceaseless name dropping of bands and their albums really annoying. i don't care that you're into a broad variety of music calvin. you're a dick that grew soft a little too late.
review 2: A coming-of-age story set in the protagonist's mid-twenties. Seriously, in this day and age, I know a lot more people who are figuring out who they are and what their role in the world is going to be in their twenties than in their teens. The book was a little funny and a little thoughtful and worth a read, if for no other reason than it offers
... morea reasonably accurately portrayal of the coming-of-age process of a twenty-something in the US in the 2010's. less

this book had no plot, yet was still depressing. I highly recommend NOT reading it.

Meh. Not great, but I was at least invested enough to want to know how it ended.
