review 1: I really enjoyed this book. I think it is a good inspiration for those of us who would like to become a little bit more self-sustaining, but who feel like it's a hard world to break into. I see a lot of reviews that are very critical of the editing of this book, along with people believing the author is arrogant or condescending. To those, I would say not every book is meant to be read by every person, and not everyone will relate or agree with the message. If you do not like it, do not continue to read it, because it's obviously not for you. It is no reason to tear down a work of truly good intention.

... morehook my head, a little disappointed at some of the ventures he gave up (selling raw milk for example) that I think still need fighting to preserve or to reinstate in the USA. However, his farm operation overall is helping to push the tide of finding nourishment through industrial agriculture back to the small, local, and self-sufficient sources they used to be and need to be. Anyone who has attempted to eat more sustainably knows how many compromises you may need to make along the way. I like the majority of what he's accomplished and I hope he will keep striving so he can make his farm a permaculture farm. Inspiring! less
