review 1: It made me so sad how she was treated by her family. I'm sure that isn't the way in all Orthodox communities, but it probably happens more than it should. I've read a few of these books by women who have left the Orthodox fold. It is mind boggling to me how different their world is from mine as a Jew. I am happy the Leah has found her peace and made a good life for herself in spite of what she has gone through.
review 2: As a narrative, it kept my interest and was somewhat thought provoking. What I didn't like was the inevitable rewriting of events to fit them in this neat little story. I don't understand how someone can publish things about other people without their consent- it's so damaging. I felt like I had to constantly remind myself that this was on
... morely half of the story and that its possible the author unfairly blamed her family for all the pain in her life- the one sidedness of this story was upsetting. less
