review 1: Audience: I think both boys and girls would enjoy this book. It is a great book for 2nd graders and children who are a little further along in their reading.Appeal: This book is really fun, colorful, lively, and entertaining. It is easy to get captured in the tale of the house and the people/animals that live within.Application: I would use this book with my students when discussing emotions. This book tells how happy everyone is and how thankful they are for what they have. It is perfect to go along with how a child feels about who they are and what they have.Award: 2011-2012 Nebraska Golden Sower
review 2: We, too, have a creaky old house that we are in the process of remodeling. So I thought this would be a good book to read together. Our house isn
... more't quite as old or in need of repair, but all houses have little things that go wrong here and there, like a broken doorknob. We thought it was hilarious that they were on the path to remodel the whole place just because they couldn't find the right size screw to fix the doorknob. So silly! But we really enjoyed the rhyming narrative and the very busy illustrations with all kinds of nooks and crannies and details to pore over. It's a fun book and we loved the fact that the family included Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Bob; the whole extended family working together. less
