review 1: Although the book covers an important and disturbing aspect of the "war on terror" the writing is poor and never causes me to become outraged. The characters are sympathetic but without the tone that brings out a moral outrage. Gitmo as prison is not a good policy move by the US and there remain plenty of prisoners of questionable guilt but the author takes such a light tone that it doesnt elicit a strong response. (For outrage-inducing books try "And the Band Played On" or "Zeitoun.")
review 2: Though I felt this book was very biased towards the Detainees, I felt this book showed a lot of insight to the detainees held in Camp Delta. The author is able to establish a relationship with the Detainees and tell the stories from their point of view. Though, the st
... moreories she is told are askew from truth from some of well known documented events that actually occurred, it is good to see that some of the Detainee's voices were heard in creating this book. Overall, I did enjoy reading this book more than the "Inside the Wire" by Eric Saar. I hope one day a book will be written with truth and facts about the Detention Facility known as Camp Delta. less
