review 1: Though it's true that many of the essays and stories do come off as undergraduate student writing, one can't help but admire Keegan for her ability to make such honest observations about the world around her. She is a true representative of her generation, embodying the hopes and fears, confidence and insecurity, elation and desperation of her contemporaries. I'm glad I picked up this book, and I look forward to rereading some of my favorite stories (Reading Aloud, The Ingenue, I Kill for Money, Song for the Special stand out to me) in the future.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book of essays and stories by Marina Keegan. She was a very talented writer with a very distinct voice. Considering this book was published posthumously, I can understand where some o... moref the stories might have been further refined if she were still alive to inform them. Overall, however, I liked her perspective on the world, relationships, and humanity in general -- and enjoyed reading her stories. less
