Markus Zusak is an Australian young-adult fiction writer, who was born in Sydney in 1975. He studied History and English at the University of New South Wales. His parents took part in the World War II and told him everything about that time. Markus was very inspired by all stories, so this helped him to write a real bestseller The Book Thief. Two real stories about strafing of Munich and Jewish march around the streets from his mother p... morerovided the basis for some episodes in this book.
Markus always liked reading and began writing being a teenager. His first novel The Underdog was publishedin 1999, then Fighting Ruben Wolfe and When Dogs Cry in 2001 and 2002 respectively. The fifth novel The Book Thief was publishedall over the world since 2005, received a Printz Honor and was screened in 2013.In 2014 he’s won the Margaret Edwards Award.
