review 1: Fascinating combination of "how-to", history and just plain great story telling. Maureen Stanton reveals the insider's view of the Massachusetts flea market scene. Behind every find and purchase there's a story. One generation's helpful household gadgets, tools and decorative items become another generation's priceless treasures. Relive the "eureka" moments with the buyers and sellers. Then ponder the back stories of the sellers, collectors, museum curators, knowledgeable treasure hunters and clueless tourists. Meet the craftsmen, the historians, the auctioneers, the cheaters and the honest vendors who are just trying to make a living doing something they love. Learn something and be entertained. What more can you ask for?
review 2: If you spend a lot of time a
... moret flea markets and antique malls this book might interest you. Maureen followed an expert on antiques and how to make money buying and reselling. You also learn a lot about the people who are hooked and those who go to auctions. It's a hobby for me but a life style for many. Every object has a use and a history. It may not mean a lot to you but it did to the previous owner. A lot of people are experts in certain areas like china or tools. Before you head out to a swap meet read this book and it might help your buying skills. less
