review 1: I liked the layout of this memoir, how Hoffert alternated between describing the present with stories from her past. However, I didn't come away with much in the way of enrichment. I imagine it's quite difficult to write a memoir when your story is far from over, and the far-reaching echoes and ghosts of your past continue to loom large. Maybe it's unrealistic to wish that a memoir would build to a satisfying conclusion, but I do wish she'd had more compelling insights and experiences to share. As it is, not a memorable read.
