What to do When God Doesn’t Pick You by Joyce Meyer

When God Doesn’t Pick You

Everybody prays to God so that they get what they want. Imagine a scenario where an organization advertises a job vacancy gets up to 500 job applications. All those applicants have left it to God to give him/her the job. Who will God choose? This is the reason for the title “what to do when God doesn’t pick you”. It can be frustrating when God takes long to answer your prayers.  Joyce Meyer reminds us that when God takes too long to answer it means HE wants you to learn something.

It took 7 years for God to answer my prayer of getting a good job. But within those 7 years, I got to interact with people that:-

  • Were jobless for more than 10 years.
  • Were being paid daily wages of a dollar and was surprised that they could manage to smile and laugh.
  • Learnt the art of being conmen.

I also worked for unprofessional organizations (bad jobs) meaning the boss had the power to do anything he/she wants with the workers. This means that the liked overworking employees. Such jobs lead to a high employee turnover and most of the time such organization’s collapse. You may find some of your friends getting good jobs immediately after college yet they used to cheat in exams. Maybe you were the honest type (never cheated in exams) yet 5 years down the line no job opportunities came. This can be so frustrating. The reason for this is most children that come from wealthy families know that they shall inherit their parent’s properties. Or they will get good jobs due to the fact that their parents have built good networks with employers. Children that come from poor families know that their parents don’t have any connections to help them get good jobs. This means that the children will struggle very hard to get good grades, apply for jobs and hope for the best.

Someone can ask why God blesses rich people and ignores the poor. The reason is this; rich parents were brought up from poor backgrounds. So God blessed them to be rich. God did HIS part. But the parents forgot to teach their children how to manage the richness. Therefore the majority of wealthy children tend to destroy their parent’s wealth. What about poor families. Can poor families become rich? Not all poor families can be rich. But the good news is that God uses churches or well-wishers to sponsor poor children to schools or connect them to jobs or gives them money to start businesses.

What Joyce Meyer says about her Sermon?

Joyce Meyer explains to us in her sermon how she started her church. It wasn’t easy starting her church of 25 followers and sustaining the followers for 5 long years. She did not have money to go to bible school. So she taught herself the word of God keeping in mind that she quit her full-time job to focus on serving the Lord. Right now her church has millions of followers and it took her several decades to get those of followers. Joyce says that we need to be patient when asking God to answer our wishes. Also she says that we need to learn to celebrate the progress we have made and stop complaining about what still left to be done.
