review 1: Memoir from Melissa Francis a child actress of the 70's who was on Little House on the Prairie. This book was pretty good as it told of her life in Hollywood with an overbearing and often cruel stage mother but as you're reading it you get this feeling you aren't hearing the whole story. While there is no doubt her mom did horrible things, Melissa did seem a bit spoiled at times (BMW at 16, being forced to work in a cafeteria). It was interesting how she mentions how her mom went through her money but how did she think the bills for private school, horseback riding, etc were being paid? Also, would she be where she is today if her mother wouldn't have pushed her to go into the business? Probably not...
review 2: As an adult daughter of a toxic, narcissistic
... moremother, I could relate to a lot of Melissa's story. I was never a child actor, but the behaviors were familiar. Like Missy, I've grown up to be strong and to be a good mother despite my example. I gave the book five stars because of my admiration for Melissa's strength and ambition, and for the achingly sad and loving way she tells her sister Tiffany's tragic tale. less

I can't understand all the 4 stars in the comments. Just didn't do it for me at all.
