review 1: This is a book made up articles written for a newspaper that chronicles this guy's life as he travels the world with his girlfriend for a year. I like travel writing, but I was not a huge fan of this book. There are a few parts that I found interesting, but for the most part it was about this horrific bus ride here, this storm there, this guy who we can't trust here, etc. I wanted to hear more about the places and what makes the places unique. He does that a little bit, but for the most part it isn't the kind of travel book I am in to. But I will say, he does make me want to do the Annapurna Trail. He makes Nepal sound amazing.
review 2: A lovely engaging read! I love to travel, and because of that this book was perfect for me. I sat on my couch and pract
... moreically drooled over the adventures Mike and Andrea got to experience. The idea of packing a bag and taking off for a year sounds so very intriguiging to me.....if only I could convince my husband. :) The Wander Year has also made want to read Mike McIntyre's previous book The Kindness of Strangers: Penniless Across America. Over all a really lovely story, and a great escape from the winter dreariness that is currently outside my window. less
