review 1: Just quickly read this for a course at university. I didn't really have to read it but it was 31 pages long - I might as well. Then I can be all clever and say I've read it on Monday. As always it's a cute book, ideal for kids. It exists in its own little world of strange magic and stranger people. It is the world seen through the eyes of a kid and I personally think it's great to read a book that's without a lesson to be learned.I've said it before: sometimes a kid just needs to be a kid, not a prototype of the adult they will be.Kirkegaard gets that.
review 2: HahahahahahaWell well, who would have thought? It’s been almost twenty years since I last read this book and then all of a sudden I find it here on goodreads.com. I didn't exactly read the German transl
... moreation of this children novel. Instead I read the original Danish version… and what fond memories I have of this sympathetic story about the troublesome life of Ivan Olsen. However what I remember the best are the wonderful illustrations by the author Ole Lund Kirkegaard himself. Unfortunately these Illustrations don’t seem to have survived the translation into German judging by the books cover. less
