review 1: I loved this book. It brought a complex history and conflict to a very human level. The politics and government are acknowledged and explained - they have to be to understand why problems persist and perpetuate. However, the true faces in the book are the people living in the midst of occupation and conflict. They deal with turmoil, death, and destruction all with a degree of dignity, generosity, and hope that we should all strive to equal in our everyday lives.

Ultimately we are responsible for allowing 600 year old olive trees being callously cut down, children sitting in school desks being shot dead, and families torn apart and losing their land and homes. less
