review 1: so..as a man who is not starting my own family anytime soon I am always curious about other lifestyles and what I am missing...and judging by this unapologetically boring predictable slapstick book I am not missing much. Reisner is clever enough to employ the whole "My lovely-Wife-who-is-the-best-beautiful-thing-in-the-world" Technique so he can appeal, and therefore, get a large approving female consumer audience...you often see this in slap stick sitcoms like "Yes Dear" and it can get a bit nauseating after awhile...and judging by the other reviews on here by mostly females, it has predictably worked. The thing is, there is absolutely nothing special, nothing interesting in this book that has not been explored and celebrated before. Its very much the cookie cutter family... more...even the unique story of the witch doctors was disheartening....the "Chinese" doctor made a recommendation to help cure Paul's son's stomach ache which actually worked...and payback was disrespect by paul calling them mr and ms. hocus pocus. Also, the man is just not very intelligent..and it makes one slightly miffed that a schmuck like this gets to live in Beverly hills...yes thats bitterness...anyway,you cant help thinking in a albeit harsh way: "just enough extra pair of mouths to feed that is not really going to contribute to human evolution" ....I am sure he is a nice guy but it makes for an incredibly mundane and boring read....I chanced upon hearing a bit of the audio and Reisner employs this annoyingly enforced wholesome family man voice which I suppose adds to the mundane flavor of the whole thing. NO hard feelings just my opinion
review 2: One of the things I like and particularly respect about Paul Reiser, as a comedian, is that he's not all about the punch line. He tells you a story richer than any single laff-line, and you're more for having heard the story. He tells a not-particularly funny story about being on the baseball team and about how first, you have to fit in, and then you can stand out. I feel like he's articulated something meaningful there that I'll be thinking through for a long time. I love how he loves his family, and he does make me laugh, gently, thoughtfully. In that sense, he's more than a comedian, he's a storyteller. less

Enjoyed. I loved his thoughts and humor. I agreed with so much I felt like a relative.

There was some humor and lots of parts I could relate to with a nod of my head.

I have always been a big fan of Paul Reiser - since his Mad About You days.
