review 1: This is the second book I've read by Peter Allison about his adventures as a safari guide...this time in Botswana and in South Africa. It's laugh-out-loud funny and an excellent look behind the scenes at what goes on in the expensive safari camps where people pay the big bucks and absolutely expect to see certain animals in return. Mr. Allison's love for all creatures great and small is evident and his descriptions of many hair-raising, surprising and humorous incidents kept me turning the pages quickly. I hope he writes another book!
review 2: Great book to read in preparation for going on an african safari. You get to see what life is like from a safari guide's point of view. I really liked learning that the guides can recognize different animals by thei... morer packs, personalities, and/or deformities (eg: kinked tail). I look forward to reading his first book now, same subject, different stories. Many of these stories made me laugh out loud; great, quick, informative, entertaining read. less
