Fish-Boy by Vanita Oelschlager

Mr. Toddler loves puffins. So I’m always interested in finding new books about puffins – which I thought would be more common!

I heard about Fish-Boy on one of the blogs I follow (sorry, I really can’t remember where from or I would link to it – if it’s you, please let me know!).

Fish-Boy is an Inuit tale explaining the origin of puffins, or sea-parrots as they are also known. I really liked this tale. I’ve been fond of tales ever since I can remember and this one didn’t disappoint. I am really not familiar with Inuit folklore so it was all new to me. The story is quite sweet and the illustrations beautiful. I think it’s for slightly older children as mine, but it also a good read for adults, I did enjoy it myself.
