review 1: A long book full of recycled content, mostly just saying how much she regretted not being more present for her kids because she was too wrapped up in her busy life (and the technology that comes with it). Which is nice and a good reminder and all, but certainly not a book. Admittedly I put it down about 1/3 of the way in and never picked it back up, so my memory may be a little fuzzy on this one...the only reason I didn't donate it yet was because I actually bought this book new and I rarely do that. I had expected a book that encouraged me to live better in the area of heavy tech use as a parent - instead the author just attempted guilt trip after guilt trip as 'encouragement' with no helpful advice.

I am not sure how along the way of my smartphone journey a like from facebook/instagram/pinterest/goodreads/twitter/insert any other social media, became more interesting than being engaged fully in my actual life. But it did, and Rachel Macy Stafford has helped to make me aware of these practices and offers gentle guidance towards being presently intentional about those who truly matter, which most of the time is the person right in front of me. less
