review 1: This was a great book. I liked how it was a lot of flashbacks of younger days. The character A.J. was a great lead guy. I enjoyed his outlook on things and his relationships to all the people in his life. The people of this little southern town make me wonder if the author was writing about people he has met. They were all unique and some more like able than others. The subject matter of watching someone die of cancer is a tough one, but this book was also was about remembering the good and bad times you had in the past with that friend. I enjoyed this book and may try this author again.
review 2: I didn't have high hopes for this book. I read some of the original reviews and it didn't seem to have very good ones, however, it was a freebie through BN,
... moreso I grabbed it. What a pleasant surprise. It was quite an entertaining read. A little on the predictible side, but not in a horrible way. I really thought the characters were quite colorful and there was quite a bit of humor throughout. All in all a nice quick read. less
