I decided to start a new blog post series where I feature particular brands/products that I have found interesting or been enjoying. It won’t be a regular series that occurs every Friday, but I will do them when I find products that are suitable.
For today’s Friday Feature I’ve decided to focus on Dessata’s Limited Edition All You Need is Love brush, a collaboration between Headspace and Dessata. Headspace is an Australian youth mental health organisation which provides services and support to those aged between 12-25 years old. According to Headspace, 75% of all mental health issues occur before a person reaches 25 years old and an overwhelming 1 in 4 people between the ages of 12-25 have experienced a mental health issue in the last 12 months.
The colourful limited edition print on the Dessata brush is a homage to the 60s/70s era and is a celebration of love and equality. The brush comes in three sizes, maxi (ideal for thicker hair), original (for most hair types) and mini (for travel and children). I currently use the maxi Dessata brush although I have thin hair and it still works very well for me.
I encourage all of you to purchase the Dessata All You Need is Love Brush to help raise awareness for youth mental health as well as participate in the 24 Hour No Brush Challenge. All you have to do is not brush your hair for 24 hours and then post an image/video on to Instagram with the hashtag #24HourNoBrushChallenge. Dessata will be donating $5 from every purchase to Headspace, which aids them in continuing the development of mental, physical, vocational and substance-related support programs.
This cause is such an important one and the more people that can help spread the word about the importance of mental health the better. Mental health should be something that is openly discussed, not something that is seen as insignificant. Just like how we take care of our bodies, it’s just as important to pay attention to our own mental health as well as the mental health of those around us. We are in an era where social media has the power to spread powerful messages and reach people globally, so lets use this opportunity to help spread awareness about mental health.
Much love,
