When Cordelia, Brendan and Eleanor walker move into their new house they think it is brilliant but there is one question nagging them, why was it so cheap? Their parents say that the owners wanted to sell it in a hurry but the kids think its something much more sinister and when a witch comes and sweeps the 3 kids and the house of to some mysterious land, Cordelia, Brendan and Eleanor have to try and survive in this new land of pirates, giants and evil queens. With the help of Will, a world war 2 pilot the kids set off on a epic adventure to get home but there is one problem they can only get home if the witch sends them home and she is not sending them back any time soon. The witch gives them a task, find a book and she will send them home to their parents again. It should be a easy task right? Wrong. It turns out the book is cursed and will only appear if they do something selfish. Will Cordelia, Brendan and Eleanor ever get home? And if they do will it be together or alone?
I liked this book because it was full of action and adventure. There was sad parts but there was also funny parts as well. I think there was a good balance of comedy and drama in this book as well. The author managed to make the characters really lifelike and it was as if you were transported into the book itself! However I think that some parts of the story were very random and did not fit into the book. I would recommend this book for 10-14 because there is some violence in some of the chapters.
