Under a Cloudless Sky goes between the 1930’s and present. Two girls, Ruby and Bean grew up in a mining town in Beulah Mountain, West Virginia and form an unbreakable bond even though their fathers, one a mine owner and one disgruntled miner did not like each other. Present day, Hollis Beasley fights to keep his home and land even though neigbors have sold out to Coleman Coal and Energy. The book pulled me in from the first page and found it hard to put down. I enjoyed reading about the mining town and how others lived and worked in the coal mines. The book is full of suspense and mystery and one will be very surprised by what is revealed at the end of the book. This was the first book by the author that I have read and will be reading more of his books.
