review 1: Me too! Actually, by the end of the book, I wanted to yell "Get Cesar Millan (The Dog Whisperer) to this home STAT!". The problem is glaring, it's Meredith Viera (her husband is the author of this book). It's really all about her wanting a dog even though said dog has terrorized the neighborhood including delivery people and has bitten her assistant on the hand bad enough that it required an emergency trip to the ER. Her husband is honest enough to say that the reason that they didn't get sued is that said assistant is a friend. HELLO!!!! The vet has said the dog needs to be put down. Meredith's husband, Richard, the author, has battled cancer several times and is currently battling MS and has to walk with a cane and it sounds like he is home most of the time, while Mered... moreith, of course, is away at work a great deal and will travel also on assignments, leaving said dog to poop and pee all over the place in her absence, leaving said husband to deal with the monster. It just ain't right! Another reason I say Meredith needs an intervention is that all the animals she picks, including 2 cats, behave like psychos and I've watched enough Cesar Millan and Jackson Galaxy (from the show "My cat from hell") to know, it's the OWNER!! So, Richard, here's my advice for what it's worth: Man up and call one of these guys and just because you love Meredith so much, doesn't mean you should have to live this way.
review 2: Picked this up on a whim at the library, because at times, our dogs drive us crazy too. But that's where our similarities end. I can't for the life of me figure out how two otherwise (seemingly) intelligent people can bring dogs into their home, and then not take care of them. They allow their dogs to run wild, destroying belongings, messing in the house, and worst of all, attacking people. In fact, it appears the dogs are allowing to roam free outside the house as well, biting delivery people and passersby. I can't beleive they haven't been sued. A friend of theirs ended up in the emergency room for stitches after being attacked. Ridiculous! And the dogs are no happier than the people. With no boundaries and discipline, it sounds like they spend most of their time in an anxious, fearful, aggressive state becasue they can't count on their people to do what's right. I know this was supposed to be funny, but it's basically a short story about two irresponsible, albeit well-known, people who should be banned from pet ownership. less
