review 1: There were times in this book where I couldn't stay with the story...different POVs made for a realistic tale but were confusing at times. The ending was expected but still horrific as I did not imagine the complete violence that was exacted on Trina. What a tragic story, but one that is probably more real than we want to acknowledge. I would recommend this to some 8th graders but definitely not 6th graders! It makes me sad that kids so young carry around such anger and that they take it out on innocent bystanders.
review 2: Rita Williams-Garcia is a brilliant writer who decides to spearhead the violence epidemic in our school systems. The story is unique because it takes place during a course of one day, with three girl perspectives of the same situation. Th
... moree three girls are typecast into three types and it is really believable throughout the entire day the story takes place. I think that this is a great book for middle school girls because it showcase what really happens among girls and cliques in schools. Boys might enjoy it as well because it is informative regarding violence and why some girls react the way they do, often having a boy at the root of many problems between girls. less
