review 1: I love books and I love bookstores. Here is a book about authors telling us of their love of a specific bookstore. The stories are wonderful. I'm lucky to have been to a couple of the stores talked about and couldn't agree more with the sentiments expressed. These places are more than a place to buy a book. They are all experiences and especially an owner's vision. Now I have the ideal road trip of a life-time laid out.
review 2: This book is a great reminder of why reading can and should be a community and locally supported pastime. It made me sad though, because there is nothing resembling an independent bookstore in my area. Still, it has inspired me to look for some of these very special places whenever I travel to another part of the country. Who... more knows? I might even do an indie bookstore road trip using this book as my guide. less
